Billy Bryant, an Animal Control Officer in Kokomo for 35 years, - TopicsExpress

Billy Bryant, an Animal Control Officer in Kokomo for 35 years, shows off his skills with a rabies pole for his photo op on the front of the Kokomo Tribune. The photo was taken by a Tribune staffer, so I find it convenient he was there with camera in hand just in time for an abandoned pit bull to be picked up by Officer Bryant. The article says the dog bit him on the hand so he had to get out the rabies pole. Note the dog is still. Not flailing. Not fighting. Its a terrifying experience for any dog to be moved on a rabies pole, let alone picked up by his neck by one and shoved into a cage. A frightened animal typically needs only some time and patience....well and some skill...to be handled safely. Its a rare occasion I see our ACOs using a rabies pole period, let alone like this. And yes, we have a lot of pit bulls in Hamilton County too. This photo makes me sick. I find it hard to believe this wasnt staged for a great front page photo. Tough guy wrangles vicious pit bull. Now lets sell some newspapers. Way to go Kokomo. m.kokomotribune/kokomo/db_/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=IRcMXHPd
