Binaca Geetmala was a weekly radio countdown show of top filmi songs from Hindi cinema listened to by millions of Hindi music lovers, that was broadcast on Radio Ceylon from 1952 to 1988 and then shifted to Vividh Bharati service of All India Radio network in 1989 where it ran till 1994. It was the first radio countdown show of Indian film songs, and has been quoted as being the most popular radio program in India during its run. It was sponsored by Binaca, from where it got its name.The compere Ameen Sayani with his musical Bhaiyyon aur behnon was a sooooopppeeerrrrr hit. We used to wait for the programme to start but Achan would not let us till he got his news headlines... also at nine !! Harish Bhimani (born February 15, 1956) is a renowned Indian voice-over artist and a Master of ceremonies/compere. He is most known as the voice of Samay, the narrator in the TV series, Mahabharat (1988-1990). He is the leading voice in many documentaries, corporate films, feature films, TV & Radio commercials, Games, music album apart from hosting public events and ceremonies, since the 1980s.Harish Bhimani is ‘One of the Most Recognisable Voices of India’, ‘ Talking of voices no one can forget Amitji and Raza Murad and Rajesh Thakkar ( dubbing artist for hollywood hindi speakers mostly) For those who dont know him he was the one killed by wine in the toilet in Don 2. Some voices make your heart go aflutter , Mammoottys does it for me.! :P Then in Hollywood we have Sean Connery , Morgan Freeman to name a few. Who is your favourite voice?
