Binging vs Portion Control If you eat as much as you want of something, you will never be satisfied because it is eating from primal mode. Primal mode is not triggered into rational thought or even feelings. Primal mode is rogue. That is why binge eating is so damaging. There is no cap on it. It will even negate the bodys promptings that it is full. Primal mode does not take direction well; if at all. Allowing yourself to be in primal mode by binge eating is allowing a state of mixed pain, desire, desperation and passion to rule. When you give into the primal mode state, you are deferring to a lawless state. You are disengaging from a self governing state to one of internal chaos. That is why binging is also accompanied by self loathing, drama and other qualities of a base nature. The mind loves to define things. Use this to your advantage when regaining control. If you put a limit on how much you eat with portion control it is putting the mind in charge. It is reestablishing an alignment of mental, emotional and physical balance. Small portions preordained in small containers are real effective because they reinforce the minds validation that the allotted portion is accurate. The body and emotions will concede to the portions at hand as being endorsed by the mind. The mind will send signals of emotional and physical satisfaction throughout the body. It will be much easier to comply to a regime if the mind is put at the realm. That is what self discipline is; reinstating the minds decrees to an unruly and undisciplined emotional and physical body. It is not the last step on the journey but an integral part of the journey, Discipline is unhinging ones self from indulging in primal mode. To do so is merely for nostalgia is reckless and ignorant. The self is too savvy for that anymore. Empowerment is maintaining ones personal sense of mastery in all things, great and small.
