Bio-gas technology transfer for piggery businessmen pushed DUPAX DEL NORTE, Nueva Vizcaya, October 20(PIA) – Members of the Sangguniang Bayan here have asked the assistance of the Department of Science and Technology(DOST) inorder to transform odorous wastes from piggery operators and owners into biogas fuel for domestic and commercial use. The move came during the recent conduct of climate change adaptation and mitigation advocacy campaign in the town which was also attended by members of the academe, civil society organizations and barangay officials. “We believe that this will be addressed properly with the help of our national government agencies particularly the DOST,” said vice mayor Victorino Prado. He said many of their villagers have been complaining of the foul odor coming from pigs’ wastes. Prado said they will organize these piggery operators and businessmen in preparation for the technology transfer seminar to be conducted by the DOST. Jonathan Nuestro, DOST provincial chief said that through their Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Project(SETUP), piggery operators and owners will be assisted . SETUP is a nationwide strategy to encourage and assist small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to adopt technology innovations to improve their operations and expand the reach of their businesses.# ben moses ebreo/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya
