“Bioinformatics and Oncology: from Research to Clinical Practice” Dear Colleagues and Friends, We are pleased to welcome you to the annual Group of Young Greek Oncologist’s scientific meeting entitled “Bioinformatics and Oncology: from Research to Clinical Practice”. The combination of Informatics and Biomedical sciences into Bioinformatics during the last few years accelerated tremendously the advances of molecular biology and genetics in cancer research, diagnosis and therapeutics. Using innovative technological methods in basic sciences could be considered as a challenge, but it is a common assumption that it is an effective way to overcome obstacles when traditional approaches are not enough. Therefore, the aim of this educational meeting is to familiarize Medical Oncologists and other Scientists with the basic knowledge of Bioinformatics and relative applications, in order to participate more efficiently in cancer research and everyday practice. In addition to theory, workshop sessions will be provided for a better comprehension of the applications presented by a team of highly qualified scientist who are expert in their scientific field. The intention is to prove that interdisciplinary cooperation holds promise of the future in Medical Sciences and particularly in Oncology. We wish you a pleasant stay in beautiful Thessaloniki and a good start in browsing the paths between Bioinformatics and Oncology.
