Biometric Fingerprint Sensors On Apple’s Next iPhone? A leak confirms that Apple’s next iPhone will have biometric fingerprinting sensors onits Home button for unlocking the phone. Wednesday, July 31, 2013:Most notebooks today are using biometric fingerprinting sensors to ensure secured environment. However, it has not yet been implemented on mobile where security risks are higher. Thistechnology has been implemented by organisations in niche devices without touching the mainstream. The scenario is soon going to change if there is any truth in the information provided by a developer who has seen the leaked iOS 7 beta 4 folder. As cited on fonearena, the information relates to a “Biometric Kit UI” directory confirming that Apple plans to implement high grade security on its iPhone’s home button. The iOS 7 beta build consists of strings like – “..touching the home button with their thumb”, “A fingerprint that changes colour during the setup process” and “Recognition is %@ complete”. This is a clear indication that Apple plans to use the home button for fingerprint recognition. This feature will improve and strengthen the current security features of the iPhone and is much better than the face unlock feature on Android that can be faked easily. The feature is only applicable for unlocking the phone as of now and it is not clear whether it will be used for payment mechanisms etc. This feature will certainly make the iPhone worth lookingforward to.
