The last two nights thousands of geese and cranes have roosted in front of the Willow Deck. Wildlife viewing has been excellent all weekend and should be tomorrow during the fee free day too. The biology staff at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge periodically conduct scientific surveys to estimate the numbers of certain bird species that overwinter on the refuge. We use these numbers to determine how to manage the habitat for the greatest benefit to the birds.
