Birding in Mitú, on the Guyanan/Amazonian lowlands of Colombia, is such an experience... not only the rare Orinoco/Negro white sand forest endemics are found but the scenery and the experience of climbing up to these outcrops of the oldest rocks (pre-cambrian) in the planet to scan for cotingas, raptors, and macaws is unique!
