Birthday: Dariye Urges Jang ‘To Forgive All’ Achor Abimaje — March 15, 2014 Former Governor of Plateau State and Senator representing Plateau Central in the State, Joshua Dariye has made a passionate appeal to Governor Jonah Jang to give Plateau State a birthday gift by using his exalted position as well as his pastoral calling to forgive all, reconcile and bring all on board for the common good of the State as well as the Middle belt. Dariye said ‘this will be a significant milestone,’ stressing that Gen. Yakubu Gowon did the same with a request for a birthday gift from former President Olusegun Obasanjo to lift the State of emergency impsed on Plateau in 2004 which the then president did promptly. The senator made the appeal in a goodwill message to Governor Jang on his 70th birthday in Jos. Dariye said ‘when the history of Plateau State and this republic will be written, this kind of gesture will form a significant part’. He argued that with the demise of Chief Solomon Lar, first civilian governor of the State, ‘God has placed this burden and responsibility on Governor Jang’s shoulder at this point in time’, assuring him that the people of the state would give Jang all the support he needed.
