*Birthday Wish* The manager unfolded the chit and read the name Arihant Deshmukh and every one present there clapped. She quickly tried to scan the crowd and spot him but all her efforts were futile. She, now, had no other option than Waiting. :) ------------------------------------------------------ ------------------ Listening to her brothers continuous blabbering about his girlfried she was suddenly reminded of the time. It was already late now and she knew she will have to give a series of explanations. She hurriedly dressed up in her pretty, red bossini top which made her fair color look extra fair and those black jeans paired with her beautiful, wooden look wedges gave her an extra appealing look. She wore a little, heart shaped earring of red shade matching the top. She quickly applied kohl and brushed her eyelashes with mascara, applied a little gloss and left her hair open to fearlessly fall on her shoulder. It was her Date and ofcourse she did not want to get late but it did not mean that she will compromise with her looks. She quickly reached the place mentioned in the text she had received. She looked around but could not spot any one. She even checked the time but then she already was fivteen minutes late than the mentioned time. She decided to call but as soon as she unlocked the screen, there poped in a message Table 62, Door to your heart It was actually a cafe in that area, merely a few steps far. She reached there without any difficulty and sat at the mentioned number of reserved table i.e 62. She kept waiting there for a few moments when a fair looking boy, lean and tall, wearing a blue jeans paired with a grey humour tee, probably just 1-2 years younger than her called her name Darshana Pandey? She had expected a younger boy than her, when she picked up the chit from the Wish-box of the NGO she worked for. There was a wish box put up at the entrance for all the kids suffering from the last stage of cancer and had no chance of cure. They could make a wish every year for their birthdays and the member of the NGO picking up the chit had to fulfill it. It was her first time and she gladly agreed to go on a Blind date with the birthday boy just to make him smile and give him a memory to cherish. She wanted to make it special but she did not have the least idea of the place or time or even the boy or his age. How could God be so cruel to give a death sentence to some one at such a tender age. She wondered and very difficultly managed to flash a smile. I hate it. He spoke, adjusting his glasses and sitting on his chair. She obviously did not expect any gentle man behaviour from a him. She narrowed her eyes and raised her eyebrows, giving him a clear idea that she did not get what he was trying to convey. I hate it. That sympathetic look in peoples eyes for me as if I am the only one who is having such a problem. Every one dies, right miss? he explained and shot a look towards her, with his eyes looking into hers; so intensly that the only separation of his glasses seemed insufficient and she turned away her gaze. It was already late before she answered Yes, but-- before she could speak anything she noticed him roll his eyes. She turned to have a look at the entrance. A couple entered the place. Yes, they are my parents. They think I am not old enough to be left alone and my disease, adds to their panic. he spoke again, which made her concentration turn back to him. After all they are parents. She smiled and replied. Yeah. Its for them I am doing this. I know you would be uncomfortable sitting with a 16 year boy in such a place. I wanted a quiter; a little less visited place but then I knew they would not like it. Even the date wish, that was because of my mother. He smiled. Yeah! For the first time since they met and she couldnt deny he looked nice that way with those faint dimples appearing on his cheeks. Mothers wish? she again questioned, finding it weird. She wondered how could a boy, about to die, do things according to his mothers wishlist and not one of his own? Yeah, you know the day I was diagnosed with this disease, she fainted as if her entire world fell apart. But, she is stronger than I ever thought she was. She decided to take proper care of me. She left her job, her kitty parties, shoppings just to accompany me to the doctor every time I had to visit and not to let me feel alone. She wants me do every thing a normal boy of my age does. He was still explaining when the waiter suddenly approached them with the pre ordered dishes. She wasnt sure what would you like. So, she kept it simple with just noodles and manchurian. he explained again while picking up the fork. So, why this Date wish ? She asked while serving. She once heard my friends talk about their girlfriends and since then she wants me to date. She kept suggesting me girls of the locality and I wasnt at all interested but then I got this idea to make her happy. He spoke with a spark in his eyes; that spark which comes when you know you are the reason behind a smile. She quickly glanced at the lady and she looked really happy. So, what are your plans for the birthday? She questioned. Its not my birthday. Its hers. I just wanted to give her a gift and I knew this was the best way. I used my birthday wish for her. He spoke looking at her with his eyes gleaming with joy and his selfless love making everyone speechless. Purnima :)
