Bishop David Oyedepo, Rev Father Emmanuel Edeh and Pastor Enoch Adeboye blaze the trail on all fronts in the establishment and growth of educational institutions in Nigeria. Part 3: Pastor Enoch Adeboye Enoch Adejare Adeboye is a Nigerian pastor and the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Adeboye had his B.Sc. in Mathematics at University of Nigeria Nsukka and subsequently got his PhD in applied mathematics from the University of Lagos, and worked as a lecturer in mathematics at the universities of Lagos and Ilorin; After joining the RCCG, he began working to translate the sermons of its then Pastor and founder, Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi, from Yoruba into English. In 1981 Adeboye was appointed General Overseer of the church, taking over from Papa Akindayomi, who had died the previous year. For three years he filled the role part-time, still lecturing at Ilorin, until giving up his university position to preach full-time. The church, which was not well known before Adeboye took charge, now claims branches in over a hundred and forty countries, including more than 20,000 in Nigeria. Adeboye has stated that his aim is to put a church within five minutes of every person on Earth. He is the national president of RCF (an interdenominational fellowship in all the campuses in Nigeria)which is under the umbrella of Christ the Redeemers Ministry (CRM)where he serves as founder and president THE VISION January 1981, began a new era in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, when Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye became the General Overseer. Among the very first prophecies he pronounced was one to do with education. He talked of a school system that would be totally Christian, based on the word of God, run by spirit-filled Christians and on Christian principles. This educational system would start at the pre-school level and run through to the tertiary level. If no one took him seriously, one person certainly did and she did not let the vision slip from her. Mother-in-Israel, our Mummy Pastor (Mrs.) Folu Adeboye believed in the word of God as spoken by His prophet and so some 25years ago, she started the vision rolling by establishing what is today the first in a chain of pre-school/primary and secondary schools all across our nation, Nigeria. It is pertinent to note that CRC, was the first Secondary School in the link to be established when it was dedicated on 1st October, 1996. The vision has since reached the tertiary level with the opening of the Redeemer’s University for All Nations (RUN). A great vision on the run. Some of the institutions established by Pastor and Mrs Adeboye are: 1. Redeemers International school-a co-educational christian private Nursery & primary school for children between the age of 3 months -10 plus. Their vision is to train children in the way of the Lord so that when they grow up they will not depart from the path of light of the Gospel of Christ. Proverbs 22:6 says train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. The school is set up in an age when moral decadence has engulfed the nation at large. They believe that as children embrace the Gospel of Christ they will be saved from this state of moral decadence. They also believe in the transformation of childrens lives by the touch of God himself, through the teaching of christian values, ethics, principles and the word of God. Redeemers International School focuses on a combination of excellence in character formation and academic achievements 2. Christ The Redeemer’s College, ChristHill, Sagamu is one of the schools in the CRSM ( Christ The Redeemer’s School Movement), an arm of the directorate of Children & Teens Education of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). Pastor (Mrs.) Folu Adeboye, the wife of the General overseer, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, is the director of Children & Teen Education and the Chairman of the CRSM (Christ the Redeemers School Management). 3. The Redeemers International Secondary School is a co-educational private secondary school located in Maryland, Lagos, Nigeria. It was founded in 1997. It is also part of the Christ the Redeemers School Movement (CRSM). Mission statement and vision The schools mission statement is: To establish an ideal comprehensive secondary school that produces well rounded and independent citizens through a broad based functional christian education at affordable cost The vision of the school is: To prepare a people for the LORD Pastor Adeboye is married to Foluke Adeboye, also a pastor, with whom he has children.
