Bishop Fred Willis Washington preached on Palm Sunday about “THE TRIUMPHANT CHRIST”. (ST. LUKE 19:36-40) Today I want to emphasize the triumphal entry of Christ into Jerusalem. As Jesus began His entrance into the city of Jerusalem the people came and rejoiced and praised God with loud voices for all the mighty works that they had seen. The welcome afforded Jesus on that Sunday morning was full of enthusiasm. The multitude ran before Him laying garments, cutting branches from trees, and laying them before Him. They spread their coats on the road, as well as freshly cut branches; one passage of scripture (St. John 12:13) describes the trees as palm trees, thus we get Palm Sunday. They cried Hosanna, blessed be the king that comes in the name of the Lord. The word Hosanna is interpreted “save or help now”. Somebody needs help now! The triumphant Christ is able to help you to get through whatever crisis you are going through. The triumphant Christ is able to help you accomplish whatever you need to accomplish for God! And He will help now!
