Bishop Ronald W. Gainer will have hip replacement surgery tomorrow morning, August 5, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. Bishop expects to be discharged from the hospital within a few days & resume his normal schedule in approximately one month, following physical rehabilitation. Father Robert M. Gillelan, Jr. will handle the normal administration of the Diocese while Bishop Gainer is undergoing surgery and in the immediate time afterward. Father Gillelan is the Vicar General of the Diocese and has served as Administrator during the time between the death of Bishop Joseph P. McFadden and the installation of Bishop Ronald W. Gainer. Prayers for a successful operation and a speedy recovery are welcome.
