Bisi Akande Appointed Interim National Chairman Of APC Chief Bisi Akande has been appointed as the interim chairman of the opposition merger party, All Progressives Congress (APC). Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff, who made the announcement while addressing a news conference at the end of a closed door meeting in Abuja, said the appointment is part of the requirement for the registration of the new party. He also said the move to appoint the former Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) national chairman was a consensus decision among the merging parties. The National Secretary of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Alhaji Tijani Tumsa was appointed interim national secretary. The meeting, held behind closed doors at the Lagos state governor’s lodge, witnessed attendance by governors and chieftains of the major political parties forming the alliance. At the end of the meeting, the governors dismissed reports of disagreement among members of the opposition, stressing that significant progress has been made towards the realisation of the merger.
