Bista of UML is 48. Going by his age alone, at this point in his life, he should be at the peak of his (chosen) career, which is national politics, not narrow party politics. Ideally, he should be the one leading the party with energy, vision and drive for the WHOLE of the nation. But in Nepal, he spends his time as a ranked functionary in the party, which is considered to be an achievement. If people like him are not given leadership positions now, with the elders sort of acting as advisors, how will he ever get to sharpen his executive/leadership skills? [Cameron, a lifelong politician, was 44 when he became the PM; Obama was 47 when he became the President Not that these comparisons mean much; but we have to find ways to make political leadership young mens and womens game!]
