Bit of a busy mixed week last week. Herbie has moved on to - TopicsExpress

Bit of a busy mixed week last week. Herbie has moved on to pastures new for a while & is out on loan to a lovely family - good luck Keira, have loads of fun xx Lots of ups & downs with Hugo. He was a super star on Tuesday. My mum has not been on a horse for years, & never anything as big as Hugo - but hacked him out with us & he was as good as gold :) He lost his gold star on Wednesday! Spent 2 hours trying to persuade, cajole, coax, bribe him on board the lorry. Eventually finished with him having consented to put both front feet on the ramp (apart from the times that he used the ramp as a wall of death to spin round & tank off!) Finished with aching arms & one incredibly bruised (possibly broken) foot. Thursday was a little better - took about an hour & half to get all 4 feet on ramp & have a good sniff of the horse area. Friday he regained his gold star - although still slightly tarnished. Only took an hour (4 people, pressure halter, lunge line & lots of food :D ), but he finally went in, stood for a while, then turned round & came back down. On Saturday his star was polished to a blinding shine. 10 minutes & only 2 of us to load him. Ramp up & off he went with Iona to join over 80 other horses out on hound exercise. Travelled beautifully, unloaded well, stood very calmly at the lorry....& then gave me an awesome ride :D Had a few permissible baby moments, but in general was a super-star. Wasnt bothered about Iona going on ahead. Remained in trot when asked, as others galloped off in front over the numerous stubble fields. Was calm when we got back to the lorry & re-loaded in less than 10 mins. Very proud of the boy. Hes going to make a cracking hunter.
