Bit of a surreal morning. Got out of the shower, walked back into my bedroom to see a builder, legs akimbo, sat outside my window facing IN, scraping/painting the window frame. He looked a bit like a slimmer version of Hurley from Lost, young-ish, long curly hair, dragged back in a pony tail. Fairly vacant expression. Luckily, I was only half naked (top half, no sniggering at the back). Yes, there’s been scaffolding up outside the flat (I’m on the third floor) for a few days now, but no activity up until now; for some reason I wasn’t expecting it. I wasn’t sure whether to wave at him, nod in acknowledgement, or strike up a friendly small-talk conversation. He just stared very hard at the window frame and pretended I wasn’t there. I wasn’t sure how to respond. So I got my stuff together for the morning without and pretended he wasn’t there. I didn’t wave at him.
