Bizarre thing happened today. The girls and I were at Pottery Barn Kids and they were deep in play. The front room was their bedroom, the middle room was the kitchen, and they were just GONE in pretend land and sort of forgot I was there. So Betsie is sitting on a rocking unicorn and she is talking on this precious pink telephone (a real phone, by the way, with a cord and everything - the stuff of my 80s dreams!). Shes giggling and shes murmuring nonsensical words and shes twirling the cord and I was just sitting there gazing at her and thinking about how cute she was being when her eyes landed upon me. She stared at me, blinking herself back to reality before snapping, aghast, WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN HERE, MOM?! Uhhhh...weird. It was like a scene from our future teenager sitcom. And then I mentally grabbed the phone and told her friend she couldnt talk anymore because she was grounded, Missy. #ohmylanta #havemercy #youreinbigtroublemister #yougotitdude
