Black Beauty Ranch recently welcomed five cows to the sanctuary. These beautiful girls were confiscated by the local animal control/ law enforcement in Palm Beach County, Florida due to neglect. The owner purchased several cows for his property to qualify for an agricultural tax exemption (to save money on his taxes). While the owner benefited by saving money, he returned the favor to his cows by not feeding or caring for them at all. Essentially they were just left on the property to fend for themselves. We were happy to welcome them to our sanctuary where there is always green grass or fresh hay to munch, and large pastures to roam. Our five skinny girls, Kelcey, Chetana, Kris, Kate and Vegan, arrived in December and were quarantined while they could be evaluated, vaccinated, dewormed and allowed to put on weight. They were recently released on our 1,300 acres with our other 40+ cows. While small in stature, they make up for it with big personalities. They are already winning over our resident cows and joining in on prime coastal hay grazing time! If you would like to help us care for these cute girls, please consider clicking the Donate button at the top of our Facebook page.
