Black Forest Together Our mission “Help the people to recover, rebuild and restore their lives … while enhancing a full sense of community, and the richness of our natural environment today and in the future for the Black Forest.” About us Black Forest Together was formed by Black Forest citizens to help our community recover from the catastrophic Black Forest Fire of June 2013. Black Forest Together is an independent non-profit corporation, and has applied for expedited recognition as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. We are not an offshoot, or a subsidiary organization, of Colorado Springs Together. However, we are deeply grateful for the valuable help and guidance we have received from our neighbors in Mountain Shadows, who have traveled this difficult road before us. Black Forest Together is not here to duplicate the efforts of any disaster relief organization. Requests for individual financial support, for needs that are not covered by private insurance, will be referred to the appropriate charitable organizations through a coordinated case management process conducted by the Lutheran Family Services Disaster Response Program. (Flyer Attached) This series will bring together all stakeholders in the landscape recovery process to identify community/landowner needs and develop recovery solutions. o We will develop solutions through public-private and commercial partnerships, and volunteerism, with an emphasis on creating market solutions to reduce costs and efforts associated with forest mitigation, dead tree removal, and replanting. • We are looking for motivated volunteers to help our organization meet the above listed goals. We are looking for folks who have a desire to help rebuild the forest and we will take all skill sets. We are recruiting volunteers to help maintain our website, fundraise, plan community events, take photos of the recovery process, and bring great ideas to our organization.
