Black History and The Great Controversy - Marlowe Parks I believe that there has been a great controversy since the time of Christ and his angels who fought with the Satan and his angels in heaven. I believe this according to Revelation chapter twelve. I believe that there is a great controversy that has hit this earth for millennia and that it is a great controversy between truth and error. Truth transcends good even if the good is done for the wrong reason. This is the case if a person follows the Ten Commandments which are good in themselves. If he does what God says only to justify himself before God then he ignores a truth. No good man can justify himself before God. It is important that men respond to the light of the world. Most will not and most who profess following the Christ will not be faithful to the end. I believe that certain truths has been ignored in the history of race wars. God is not white or black. He is light. The Holy Father sent his only begotten Son to reconcile the whole world to himself. I believe the religious truths of the bible to be higher importance than the political and social issues. I believe that in the context of slavery an ecclesiastical empire prophetically fulfilled its role as a persecuting power of Christendom. Slavery of Africa did not start because of race. The same is true for Ireland. The issue was whether man shall be free to follow the supremacy of God and the authority of his word or shall man rule over his conscience. This was symbolized by the seventh-day sabbath versus Sunday keeping. It was a battle between the exercise of primitive godliness versus the exultant promotion man above God. I believe that we should prayerfully guard our hearts from being devastated when we reach for order and love in this world. We seek for things to make sense in what appears to be a senseless world. Some of us just pursue what can get us by in the day. We look for five basics of survival: food, shelter, utilities for the shelter, clothing and transportation. Add to that prescribed medication for the infirmities of young and old. Others would self-medicate with food, coffee, tea, smoking, beer and whatever other stimulant. Add to that amusement. Sports is first in the imagination then comedy and tragedy plays. We are taught to get a formal accredited education, get a job or start a career then start a family. In the meantime, we may be attracted to causes that will save the planet, save the whales, save blacks from whites, save us from das Kapital system or communism, or terrorism or the Christian religion in the public forum of ideas and policy. All the things that I mentioned as pursuits can have a way of emptying the you. We seek the aforementioned things because there seems something good in them. We hope to get a good return in what is an investment of our time. The desire of the nations promotes the things of the heart. It is written that there is a way of living that seems right to man but it ends in a type of death. If it is a death of temporary political gain or love, why do we try attaining them? Was it good and true before we existed and how shall these good works continue? I believe the answers are found in the bible. That book satisfies more than philosophy and religious rituals. I believe in the Spirit of the author and finisher of my faith. He said in the book of Deuteronomy that he gives power to gain wealth. He said in the same book he gave the sabbath for men and beast and the stranger to rest from his pursuits. Even the slave was set free from work. Eventually the man-made slavery was to be abolished. Debts were to be forgiven. Injustice is answered. The truths of a new living way can be found in the sanctuary service. The earthly sanctuary was a teaching prototype of the perfect heavenly sanctuary. Jesus activated the way of the sanctuary through his body. Be blessed.
