Black Horse is proud to welcome Liana Collins to the Black Horse team , Liana has written a piece for you about her and her horse Boags I purchased Mister Bogart (Boags) five years ago when I was at university in Wagga. He was at the time being used for stock work but his original owners thought he might have some jumping talent and knew that I was looking for a new horse. With the help of my coaches Marcia Williamson and Gordon Bishop I have schooled him from a young thoroughbred to two star. Boags has proved to be a quirky and naughty individual along the way and was well known at the university stables for his destructive tendencies. All people knew that leaving any gear or equipment within the vicinity of him would most likely result in its demise! He has progressed up the grades at a reasonable pace, picking up placings along the way. As with all horses in the eventing game we have had our fair share of struggles and issues (the current one being a strong aversion to skinny brush fences) but that is what I love about this sport. It is dynamic and challenging and pushes your determination and perseverance every step of the way. As a young horse he won an intro at Tamworth International Horse trials. More recently I find our biggest achievement to be the completion of our first Two Star competitions at Canberra and Goulburn. Neither of us have competed at this level before and finishing was the greatest feeling. I am delighted this year to have been accepted into the Victorian Prydes Senior Eventing Squad for 2015. This squad will give me the opportunity to access fantastic instruction at some of Victoria’s best equestrian locations. I hope that this opportunity will allow me to get Boags to both Melbourne and Adelaide Three Day Events in the Two Star. 2015 is so far shaping into an exciting year filled with amazing opportunities and support. I am thrilled to have been selected (along with some other amazingly talented riders) to endorse the products of Black Horse Clothing. I have admired their clothing range over the last few years and am loving my new gear purchased from Equitana.
