Black Knot Information Black knot has been noticed on the trees in the Strathmore area. It is a fungus that grows on trees and gardeners needs to take action to keep the spores from spreading. This disease is common among plum and cherry trees and can kill the plant if left unchecked. The black tar like swellings take a couple years to mature and can produce large numbers of spores.
