Black Leopards have issued a statement refuting media reports that Sean Connor has been relieved of his duties as the club’s head coach. It was revealed in Soccer Laduma this morning (Wednesday) that Connor has struggled to acquire his work permit, since joining the Limpopo outfit in July. Leopards’ spokesperson Berry Ramunenyiwa and Connor’s agent Ali Tlhoaele confirmed to the Siya crew earlier today that the coach is working on getting his papers sorted. The Northern Ireland-born coach is yet to sit on the bench for Lidoda Duvha for their NFD campaign in the 2014/15 season. “Widespread reports claiming that Sean Connor has been sacked as head coach of Black Leopards are unfounded. Assistant coaches Solly Luvengo and Ashwin Sutton are currently in charge of first team affairs while Connor sorts out his work permit issues. Obviously this has led to speculation and erroneous conclusions about t the coach’s long-term future at the club. The club can confirm that the Irishman is still the Lidoda Duvha head coach and reports to the contrary are simply not true,” blackleopardsfc revealed. Leopards had a slow start to the season with no win after three games played by the side so far. The team is currently 12th on the NFD log with two points. “The news is new to us. We have no idea where these rumours come from. The coach has not been fired and he is still with the team. Connor has been having problems with his work permit and is busy rectifying that. Solly Luvhengo and Ashwin Sutton have been overseeing proceedings with the team as the head coach attends to his work permit issues. They will continue doing so until the coach is ready to take over,” Ramunenyiwa told the club’s official website.
