Black father takes his 2 children to see Oakland Raiders game. Afterwards the three walk to the fathers workplace where he left his SUV. Father is a veteran fire fighter. Father sees that the station garage is left unlocked (trucks left on an emergency run) so he goes in to check. Someone sees this unarmed Black man and his two adolescent children and decides to call the police. Police assume that the unarmed Black man is a burglar ... so they tell him and his children to raise their hands in the air while policeman stands in a shooting stance with his hand on his gun. Would the officer (or the citizen who called it in) have made the same assumptions if it was a white firefighter with his children? Some call it a conspiracy. Me? I just think that people are more attuned to the racially-biased way that Black men are treated by law enforcement officers. Just sayin...
