Black journalism is nothing more than “white journalism in - TopicsExpress

Black journalism is nothing more than “white journalism in blackface”, if it’s not about revealing our experiences or analyzing what we experience, and how we can solve of various dilemmas...Holding Love parties and golf tournaments may feel sushi to some, but it will do nothing to improve the mindsets of African-American people, especially our youth...Moreover, if we don’t set up our own programs for our youth in our communities, then how will they adequately replace us in the future, as well as provide guidance for those who will follow them and those will get to come? Afterschool programs, using college students as interns will ensure that they won’t even cost that much to operate. Community newsletters that are published very locally in, for example, various parts of Philly neighborhoods will create all kinds of incentives for young people. Finally, without deliberately focusing our efforts on getting our use to feel that they have a vested interest in continuing Black journalism, then we may as well simply continue the Love parties and golf tournaments. And stop lying to ourselves and everyone else.
