Black people as a race put so many stupid expectations and restrictions on eachother. Men cant be sensitive, show any emotion other than anger, be friendly to outsiders... Black men cant be different, but only the same. There are expectations about what he wears, what he says, how he says it, how he walks, how he fights, even how he loves... A Black man cant be passive, or peaceful, or too kind... A Black man cant even be educated or have real success, or he is told he is not a Black man. A Black woman cant be independent. If she deserves a ring it is because there are children, or she is not like the rest, as if every other Black woman has something wrong. She cant lead, although she is a Matriarch. She cant succeed. She needs welfare. She lacks control, over her life, her finances, her education, her body, and especially her children. There are expectations about her hair, her costs of living, what she eats, how she interacts... How a Black woman dances, cooks, thinks, handles pressure, reacts to stress, and even makes love... Well I am educated, well & outspoken. I am kind, caring, and friendly. I care for the welfare of all people. My clothes dont define me as much as my degree and my relationships. I dont have to fight, I can walk away. She can speak. She does ballet. Has a PH.d. She has children with her husband, been married 10 years and have a 3 & 6 year old. Her behind is firm, and body tight. She cooks pork, but has a salad as a side. But I expect you have different thoughts about what Black must be...
