Blackberries . . . . . . . . When I was a kid we used to go out BlackBerrying as a family and spend some very memorable moments gathering one of the most delicious, vitamin enriched, natural resources that the countryside has to offer. RIGHT NOW is one of the most bumper crops of these little black beauties that I have ever seen, ands no one seems to be interested! In the past few days I have only spotted one other person who was picking any, what a shame! I set off early this morning for a mini bicycle jaunt with my gorgeous wife, and armed with one large sealable container and two smaller containers managed to pick about 3.5 kilos in just over half an hour. not bad when you think of how much a 4 oz container of blackberries costs you in Waitrose these days. Having already made pots of bramble jam, and more pip free blackberry sorbet than you can shake a red-dyed stick at, I decided to freeze these. Washed in our salad spinner, and then spun dry, I open froze them on a series of trays. when frozen, they will be bagged and used over the course of the year. Get out there guys and get your own supply before the bushes break under the strain.
