Blackmagic has added autofocus support for compatible EF lenses in - TopicsExpress

Blackmagic has added autofocus support for compatible EF lenses in their official firmware 1.8 update for its range of cameras. You, however, will have to wait for audio meters and file formatting features, as these are still in the pipeline. According to Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic, theres a lot of reworking that needs to be the code in the firmware in order to unify it across all of their cameras. He reckons once this is done, future update cycle will be much more frequent, with smaller updates for specific features coming at a faster pace. It seems like Blackmagic wants to take on the likes of Avid, Premiere and FCPX with its latest version of its color correction software. Da Vinci Resolve version 11 now includes a gamut of new trimming and timeline tools. However, it’s still going to be interesting to see how Resolve compares to its competitors in terms of media management. But, hey! the fact that this software is free (without some of the higher-end features like temporal noise reduction, of course), its OK by me. Who knows, maybe Blackmagic may be crazy enough to add compositing features in the future. You may download Blackmagic Camera 1.8 and Da Vinci Resolve 11 Beta at their support website now.
