Blacks Inveted Apartheid:Hofmeyr.. Groundbreaking revelations redefine history. In a landmark tweet, Hofmeyr gives away the title of his latest scholarly paper. Simply tweeting: “Sorry to offend, in my books, Black were the architects of apartheid,” Hofmeyr gives insight into the highly debated cause of the system of racial segregation that ruled South Africa for most of the twentieth century. Publishers of the history journal in which the tweet is to be developed into a paper, OUP – Orania United Press, have kept mum about the contents, but history departments around the world are breathing a collective sigh of relief. The years of researching the root of apartheid, draining university funds, may finally be over. “I nearly jumped for joy when I heard the news,” says Dr. Hans Fischer at the Institute of Tragedy, Germany, “I thought I’d die without solving the mystery of who constructed these racial segregation laws. Perhaps next we’ll discover who invented slaveships!” Another historian in Australia, Dr. Matthew Williams had more to say about the source of the discovery, “For a long time our community has been thankful for the expertise Hofmeyr has shared with the South Africans. He really has a way of distilling complicated historical concepts into the simple language of the commoners.” He continued, “So I really wasn’t surprised when it was he who discovered this gem.” Dr. Molefi Khumalo, at the Centre for Apartheid Studies in Cape Town, was more excited about the future of South African History research, “Now that we know apartheid was invented solely by black people, it is necessary that we assess what this could mean for the study of history. We may have to combine our history department and our psychology department because this can’t be the work of a sane people. Add the sociology department so that we may explore the notion of a group of people who created their own hell and then years later decided they were bored with it and went on to punish the people who were kind enough to give them what they want. It’s very interesting.” Steve Hofmeyr was unavailable for comment. Whats your take......?
