Blacks certainly have more trouble with this than whites, but as a white I have a lot of sympathy for their trouble. I have always been afflicted with a tendency to rebel when exposed to things I dont understand or that seem wrong coming from authority figures. If I were stopped for no apparent reason I would be questioning the reasoning for the stop. Until recently I might even get pretty snotty about it. No longer. I now know there is really nothing between e and police abuse. I wouldnt trust the color of my skin to make up the difference and could very likely get hurt. Now I understand. Submission is the only way if I dont want to wind up beaten or dead. The police are not under rational control. I think this has always been the case, but we were made unaware of reality as we were taught about the constitution in grade school. All of our social reflexes probably need retraining as we wait for the police to learn a bit of empathy.
