Blend fail (almost) Tried something different this morning. Wanted - TopicsExpress

Blend fail (almost) Tried something different this morning. Wanted just a single bowl of cereal so I measured out a typical amount, ground it up first in the dry blend container (never used it before) with some macadamia nuts and it started to make nut butter (that should have been my first clue!) this shifted it to the wet container, added milk and though I had a good consistency, I noticed after I poured it that there was some unblended, dry stuff under the blades - that should have tipped to me to start over but no, I soldiered on. Could have used 2 hands getting it to plunge (I am a bass player and have very strong fingers). Clogs were happening constantly and I took a 1/2 full syringe of water and drew the blend out then push it back in and that worked very well to clear the clog, had to repeat that with every syringe until I was done - total of 360 mL water for flushing and clog clearing. Lessons learned - I typically use a chopstick to measure the viscosity and I didnt (my bad), second the clog clearing techniques in the Complete Tubefeeding book worked very well. I observed potential problems and chose to ignore them (my bad again). The No-ring syringes (which I am doing a long term eval on) work exceptionally well with thick blends as they have a larger ID, at the tip, then the O-ring syringes, so if you like thick blends you may want to consider this. If you have a clog, only fill your flush syringes 1/2 way so you can work the clog in both directions. No big deal really, just dont panic. Overall a good learning experience pushing the envelope.
