Blennies are saltwater fish that can be found in reefs, kelp beds, sandy beaches and rocky pools in temperate and tropical seas. Blennies are generally bottom-dwelling, but can be seen swimming through the water column. Blennies are comprised of several different families and the two largest are Clinidae (clinids), with around 180 species, and Blenniidae (blenniids), with around 300 species. Make sure to know the temperment and feeding habits of the blenny you wish to keep. Blennies can be herbivorous and will munch on algae, however there are several that are carnivorous. Blennies can be more aggressive towards free swimming fish or very docile. Pictured: Sailfin Blenny (Salarias fasciatus) Barnacle Blenny Blue-Striped Canary Blenny Midas Blenny (Ecsenius midas)
