Blessed Day Beloved Friends Saturday 18 January 2014 Heres Todays Devotional from *The Special Seed* THE BIBLICAL SUPERWOMAN (THE PROVERBS 31 WOMAN) A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life…Proverbs 31:10-31 It was the Solomon’s mother who told him what to look for in a wife. (Prov. 31:1) While all of this counsel from a mother to a son about his future wife’s characteristics, virtues, and pursuits is wise, it presents a formidable challenge for many God-fearing Christian sisters. Not only is she perfect but she also seems virtually impossible to emulate. There are, however, a number of aspects of the Proverbs 31 woman that make the difference between marriageable and incompatible. An ideal partner (god-fearing husband or suitor) needs you to Be virtuous. (Prov. 31:10) - Maintain high moral standards and pursue righteousness; right standing with God. Be trustworthy (Prov. 31:11) - hold his heart. No other woman in the world has access to it, so you need to treasure it and protect it so he’ll continue to share it with you. Be his biggest supporter. (Prov. 31:12) - You need to be a wife who is for him, rather than against him. One who believes in him. A wife who influences him for good rather than evil. Tend to the home. Prov. 31:13-15 - He’s the provider for the family. (Genesis 3:17) And depending on your personal views of the marriage you can chose to be a keeper of the home, more specifically, a homemaker. (Titus 2:5) The ideal is for both of you to have clear-cut roles as complimentary partners, not competitors Have a mind of your own. Prov. 31:16, 18 - Be the kind of woman who thinks for herself. Help your husband to make wise business decisions. Be strong, healthy, and hardworking. Prov. 31:17 - A lazy, unhealthy wife can certainly bring some chaos to the marriage. Be compassionate to those that are less fortunate. Prov.31:20 - You need to ask yourself the question, “Can I grow, spiritually, with him?” Would he go where you are going in the Spirit? Would you go where he is going in the Spirit? Respect him. Prov. 31:23 - When a wife respects her husband and she does so publicly, it’s only natural for others to respect him as well. Be not fearful of your future. Prov. 31:25 Be the kind wife who seeks God’s wisdom. Prov. 31:26 Manage the home. Prov. 31:27 Who can find a virtuous woman? I have discovered that the reason no one can find a virtuous woman is because she is not found, she is made. So when the Bible says a woman of virtue is hard to find, it is because she must start with a repentant heart, then allow God to help her in tearing away from her old lifestyle; and her old way of doing things. Ladies, God is setting you up. He is getting you ready; your best days are ahead of you. As Bishop T.D Jakes says,“Tell the devil I have changed my mind.” Tell yourself, “No man will get me into sheets before marriage”. It takes God to work character in you; you lost character while hanging on the streets outside the will of God. You must prepare yourself now. As you begin to practice excellence, you will strive to become what the Word of God says you should be. ACTION STEP: Today measure yourself against the Proverbs 31 Virtuous Woman, and ask God to transform you to reach that level.
