Blessed Saturday, December 20, 2014, from St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands! Today’s Meditation: THE IMPORTANCE OF THE VIRGIN-BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST! When we think only in the natural realm, we can conclude that the Scriptures speak of events that are impossible. During this season of Christmas, the subject of Jesus being born of a virgin comes up in the hymns and sermons. But how can we be sure that such an event could occur and why is it so important? We will give it a shot here today. After Adam and Eve sinned, God showed up spiritually and pronounced the curse on this couple but also cursed Satan, who was embodied in a serpent, as follows: SCRIPTURE: Genesis 3:14-15 (NKJV) (emphasis mine) 14 So the LORD God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust all the days of your life. 15 AND I WILL PUT ENMITY BETWEEN YOU AND THE WOMAN, AND BETWEEN YOUR SEED AND HER SEED; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” As Almighty God pronounced this curse on the serpent, there was also stated a promise of hope for Adam and Eve and the prophesy of “the seed of the woman” who would one day dethrone Satan from the battle he won in the Garden of Eden. But, how can we be sure that this was talking about the Lord Jesus Christ? Well, the Holy Spirit revealed in for us in the following Scripture given to us by Apostle Paul: SCRIPTURE: Galatians 3:15-16 (NKJV) (emphasis mine) 15 Brethren, I speak in the manner of men: Though it is only a man’s covenant, yet if it is confirmed, no one annuls or adds to it. 16 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,”[a] who is Christ. In the Genesis Scripture above, Satan is told that “the seed of the woman” would be a Male, who would “bruise his head” and that he Satan, would “bruise his heel.” This was in reference to the Victory of Jesus Christ on Calvary, who disarmed Satan and won back what Satan had stolen. The “bruising” of Christ heel was referring to Christ suffering and death. PRAYER: Father, how thankful we are for revealing the virgin-birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, who was promised when our first parents sinned. Because of the victory won by the Lord Jesus Christ, the curse which was handed down to all of us, the off-springs of Adam and Eve, can be delivered from that curse and become partakers of the promises given. With this revelation, we can celebrate the Birthday of the Lord Jesus Christ with a clear understanding that He was the sinless Son of God, who paid the price of our redemption in His own body, on the Cross. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for paying the price that we deserved, Amen!
