Blessed Saturday, November 1, 2014, from St. Thomas, of the U.S. V. I. Today’s Meditation: WHO BUT JESUS CAN LOVE US IN ALL OUR IMPERFECTIONS! When it comes to forgiving others, many of us look for improvement in behavior first or action on our promises before we respond. But when we look at the record of Jesus’ work of salvation on our behalf, there is nothing, nor no one. who can love us like God does. His love for us surpasses human understanding. Let’s see: SCRIPTURE: Romans 5:8-11 New King James Version (NKJV) (emphasis mine) 8 But GOD demonstrates His own love toward us, in that WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having NOW BEEN JUSTIFIED by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if WHEN WE WERE ENEMIES we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, HAVING BEEN RECONCILED, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom WE HAVE NOW RECEIVED THE RECONCILIATION. From this powerful Scripture, we learn much about God Almighty loving us and how this was accomplished. It took God taking on human flesh to become a human being, to suffer as no human can, not for His wrong but ours. Note also that the effects of God’s love, it can be experienced in our daily living now. How is this possible? Well, the Scripture uses a bookkeeping or accounting term to show us what takes place when we answer God’s call to salvation. God declares that we were sinners, and whether we knew it or not, we were His enemies. To be reconciled according to my little dictionary, is “to return to harmony;” “to make compatible;” “to settle amicably.” In other words, God, thru Christ Jesus, the scales of justice are now in complete harmony with His requirements. This harmony was purchased by the innocent Blood of Jesus shed on Calvary’s Cross. Our pass sins are forgiven; our guilt is gone, if in fact we have responded to the Gospel and Gods conviction. PRAYER: Father, I cannot fully comprehend how You could love me this way, but oh, am I grateful for Your forgiveness and unconditional love. Lord Jesus, thank You for taking my place on that Cross. I was the sinner; I was God’s enemy going my own way, but You rescued and freed me from my guilt and shame. Father, I pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to lead me in the paths of righteousness.
