Blessed Thursday, June 5, 2014, from the United States Virgin Islands! TODAY’S MEDITATION: WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST DESIRE IN LIFE? I am sure that as we meditate on the above-mentioned question, many thoughts come to mind. Realizing that this is a spiritual activity we are dealing with, we strive to come up with a spiritual answer. But seriously speaking, what is that greatest desire that we have; could have; or should have? One of the things that I appreciate with the Bible is that it is not an account of goody, goody, people, but one of people who failed over and over but the Hand of God was upon them. Through their difficult moments in life, they experienced God’s mercy and love, and God used them for His purposes. The Psalmist writing zeroed into his final analysis of life; that God was the most important person. Once realized, his whole prospective on life changed, and his priority was to learn more and more about his God as stated below. Psalm 27:4-5: “One thing have I desired of the Lord, and that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.” “For n the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide; he shall set me upon a rock.” Let’s be real; well all is said and done, who but the Lord can rescue us; who but the Lord can we fully trust; who but the Lord will never leave us nor forsake us. When the doctor’s report causes us to panic because there is no solution; when the employer says, “I don’t need you anymore;” when your spouse tells you “it’s over,” who else is there to turn to. The Psalmist came to realize that the Lord was his only refuge. It shouldn’t be like this, but in reality, the Lord becomes our “emergency number” when all else fails. Thank God, in His mercies; He still answers our cry. But should we wait for emergencies, or should we be developing a relationship with Him by reading His Instruction Manual and surrendering our lives to Him? PRAYER: Dear Father in heavenly, I acknowledge that had it not been for those difficulties in my life, I probably would not be serving You today. But I am thankful for Your grace and mercy towards me. Lord Jesus, thank You for making the way possible for me to have this New Life in You and to have it more abundantly. Thank You, Father, that Your promises are yea and amen.
