Blessed are the POOR in spirit. Means the weak spirit. The dependent spirit, the needy spirit, the cant provide for itself spirit. The spirit that admits how small it is, and relies on Gods bigness for all providence. The story of the Rich Young Ruler is an example of a man who couldnt give up self providence for Gods providence. People argue YOU MUST BE OBEDIENT and it makes me cry. First off its so easy to convince yourself you do it for God, but ultimately you do it for yourself. That isnt love, except perhaps love of COVER MY OWN BUTT theology. Its an attempt to build your spirit up strong, to resist temptation, to conquer sin, to change yourself to be more like HE wants to see. And this is the exact opposite of what the Christ taught. That makes it Anti Christ. :) SO ROMANTIC, I will battle my sins and conquer them for you O Lord, but all He wants you to do is shut up and get out of the way. Rather than focusing your attention on Obedience which youll ultimately fail following, He wants you to focus on love. Through that focus on love, and the loving acts that ensue, you are changed. You do no changing to yourself, HE does the changes. The Rich Young Ruler was told, if you would be complete in your walk with God, (not just saved...) give away your former life, have it gone so you can never rely on it again. Then come follow me, the Son of the Living God. You will bring nothing, you will have nothing, you will provide nothing for me I need, says the SotLG. But learn to rely on me. In that mindset HE changes you. I will show just some examples of HIM changing you, and let them ask the question, who is in charge of the direction of your life, you or Him? IF your focus is on obedience, its a selfish, self providential, independent focus. But, it makes you feel good and important, right? All vss NASB Eze 11:19 “And I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within them. And I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, Tools specific to Eze 36:26 Eze 36:26 “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. Mat 4:19 And He *said to them, “Follow Me, and ++I will make you++ fishers of men.” On matters of Obedience, whos glory is that IF you are obedient? Spirit of God. Gal 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. His SEED in you.... 1Jo 3:9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. The one Born of God (Jesus) 1Jo 5:18 We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him. What do you do? Hopefully get out of the way. Ask yourself, do you gain more by battling God for control of your life, or by learning how to love as He does?
