Blessed are the merciful..... Only a few of the lowly can retaliate; often they never do.... they rarely ever fight back, the lowly calf kidnapped from his mother, just 48 hours old upon this earth...he voices his pain, his suffering, but he cannot really fight back, he cannot defend his body ... there is no retaliation; but we must remember this, the violence we inflict on these, the most lowly and humble of creatures - the farm animals -whom we imprison for food - the violence rendered will come back to you...to me...to our children.. it will invade our bodies, our spirits, our souls.. and our civilization, making us as hungry as the hungry ghosts .... eating.. eating ....eating... eating our forests, our lakes, our rivers, our atmosphere.... and eating the humblest of creatures.. but never achieving fullness or satisfaction...never healing ourselves... always hungry.. always searching... always nomads... we are and will always be hungry as long we inflict violence upon the lowliest of those who share our home, planet earth.
