Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Thats the fifth Beatitude, as spoken by JC at the Sermon on the Mount (for me, Jesus is like the personification of whatever enlightenment took place a couple of thousand years ago; doesnt matter whether hes real or not). I love the first part of that - blessed are the merciful. I am working on that. For the past two years Ive been trying to conjure up feelings of love for Tony Blair. So far, no luck. It doesnt help that I cant stand to read or hear anything about the man. But that second part? Why is this Christianity thing about rewards? Like, Be a good girl and youll get to heaven? Why not just be a good girl because its right? Not sure if its just Christianity. I dont know much about the other two desert religions. I suspect its part of their dogma too. Its also present in New Age movements, but the reward there is called enlightenment. All this striving, seeking, searching. What if heaven and enlightenment were already here? What if we already are heaven, are enlightenment? Then it would just be a matter of stopping for a minute every now and then and reconnecting. Maybe in that space I could learn to love Tony.
