Blessed with a loving family and you, my wonderful friends, I - TopicsExpress

Blessed with a loving family and you, my wonderful friends, I don’t have too many bad days. I love my life and get as much out of it as possible. Today, however, wasn’t a real good day. I’m not going to say it was a bad day, but it sure was frustrating. I had to get up earlier than usual, which got it all started badly. Then I wanted to take care of some necessary things. I went and got my oil changed, so good so far. Then I went to get my tires checked, thinking I might need to replace one. I need three. Hmphfff! Then it was off to the hospital on the east side of Greenville. I have lived a peaceful existence out here in Dacusville for so long that I forgot just how much traffic is in the Haywood Mall, Woodruff Road, Patewood area. I came out of the hospital at 5:10pm, and sat at every single traffic light at least three times. Then, I decided to pull off and get a drink at a drive thru. That girl looked at the ten dollar bill that I gave her like I was a criminal, holding it up to the light and rubbing it. So when she gave me a five and three ones for change, I held everyone of them up, taking my own sweet time and frustrating her, hehehe. I knew I should have gone down Laurens Road, but no, I stayed on 291, and got stuck in the middle lane. I estimate it to be about ¾ of a mile between I-385, and East North street. As far as I could see there were red tail lights. I sat there for eight dad-blamed light changes! I made a mental note to NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!!! It reminded me of this funny song . . . . . ~ ~ “Well, if youre one of the millions who own one of them Gas drinking, piston clinking, air polluting, smoke belching Four wheeled buggies from Detroit City, then pay attention Im about to sing your song son Well, Im not a man appointed judge To bear ill-will and hold a grudge But I think its time I said me a few choice words All about that demon automobile A metal box with the polyglass wheel The end result to the dream of Henry Ford Ford Well, now Lord Mr. Ford, I just wish that you could see What your simple horseless carriage has become Well, it seems your contribution to man To say the least, got a little out of hand Well, LORD MR. FORD, what have you done” ~ ~ JERRY REED ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Oh Sammy, He is gone now and I sure do miss him. I imagine he is rolling in his grave. You see, he built a huge department store chain that became the biggest in the world. Then he left the young Waltons to run it after he went to the Promised Land. I don’t think they are running it like he planned. Tonight I was in one of their stores, and I was the epitome of frustration! They have 23 wonderful registers in that huge store, but only three up them were open! Now, I don’t think Sam planned it that way. Man, the frustration it was in that store. Finally, on the way home was the ubiqitous bicyclist in the pitch dark with no light on. Three cars swerved to miss him. * * * When I finally got to Home, Sweet Home I put a sign up on my porch that read. Peace, quiet, and solitude wanted. No DANG DUMMIES allowed on this property!!!
