Blessing and Inauguration of New Calamba PNR Station. Governor Ramil L. Hernandez headed the local officials who witnessed the inauguration and blessing of the New Calamba Philippine National Railways (PNR) Station led by Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio A. Abaya and PNR General Manager Engr. Joseph Allan C. Dilay on the 2nd of December 2014. The Calamba Station started deploying two trains plying the Tutuban-Calamba Route for twice-a-day trips, the maiden trip leaving Tutuban Station at 7pm on December 2. The train will leave Calamba at 5:00AM and will leave Tutuban Station at 6:37PM. Promo fare was set at P45 on December 2 to 3. Regular fare will be P60 for an end-to-end trip. According to Sec. Abaya, opening of the Calamba Station “is another step towards serving the increasing number of people from Laguna coming into Manila on a daily basis, reviving the railway’s iconic Bicol Express, and restoring the PNR to its former glory as a vehicle for economic prosperity and progress.” Other local officials present were Calamba City Councilor Ruth M. Hernandez, Mayor Justin Marc Chipeco and Vice Mayor Roseller Rizal, and Rep. Joaquin Chipeco, Jr. of the 2nd District of Laguna. Rep. Leni Robredo of the 3rd District of Camarines Sur was guest of honor and speaker.
