Blimey. Week 58 of HART, and as ever we were over bright and early - TopicsExpress

Blimey. Week 58 of HART, and as ever we were over bright and early (after a long day yesterday preparing for and then attending the DRUB monthly sober socialising event - which was totally awesome by the way), and the usual early birds were flocking to get into the HART social and creative hub. Amanda tried to run us over as she arrived at the same time as we did (half-nine), and before long we were up and running and welcoming everyone of our fantastic members into the bosom of our little world. We had an extra bit of paperwork for everyone to read and sign this week, just reminding them that there are sharp, hot, pointy things in the room, and a few other little odds and ends, and everyone totally understood the need for us as a group to keep on top of any changes and additions we need to make in our various policies and general notices. One of our main selling points as a group is that it can operate on a drop in basis, so those who have other appointments during the day can come in, have some fun, leave, and come back when theyve done their stuff outside the group. Its a great feeling to know that people dont just come to kill time between appointments. And today we had several peeps needing to come and go and come and go... and its what makes us a bit different. Everything is geared to our members needs, not to our time-table. We think its a big part of the reason we work. We respect and support everyones personal timetable. And while we have a management committee, and an extended committee to oversee some aspects of the groups running, the best thing is that every one of our members is a stakeholder in the group. They all have a say in what we do, we even ask them what they need, and if possible will do our best (funds permitting) to get them what they want. It empowers people, and makes the realise that they will get back from the group as much as they put in... and more! Im super proud to be associated with it (as I know we all are), and I think that the good vibe that emanates from us is picked up and spread, like recovery ripples, throughout the community. Theres more happening now, courtesy of peer-led groups (and unceasing support from the likes of Fiona Wright of the N-DAAT), than there probably has ever been. And theres no reason that anyone who wants to be involved on any level will be excluded. Hands on HeArt, The DRUB, ACORNS, ReCafe... four good places to begin to get involved. I went all evangelical there. lol. Sorry. So, on that uplifting note, let me thanks you all for reading and looking at our pics, please comment if you feel the urge. Todays HART was facilitated most beautifully by Mel (super job as ever), Nina (likewise, top job) and Tim. Our members are as ever the best! Have a great weekend, See you either Monday at the ACORNS 1st birthday party, Tuesday at Tuesday HART or Friday at HART again. lol. In between those times, if you have any probs, then you know where we are. Much
