Blister in the Sun was originally released by the band Violent Femmes, on their 1983 self-titled debut album. Most of the songs on both this album and the follow up were written by Gordon Gano, singer/guitarist for the band, when he was still in high school. Violent Femmes is the band’s most successful album to date and holds the unique feature of going gold four years after its release without making an appearance on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart. It took eight years for the album to go platinum. The Violent Femmes have released eight studio albums and fifteen singles during the course of their career. They found immediate success with the release of their self-titled debut album in early 1983 and went on to become one of the most successful alternative rock bands of the 1980s. Enjoy!!
