Blog Details-Google search engine. Scotland—A Proud Nation?? Hail Caledonia POST-INDEPENDENCE CEREMONY Assuming that the Scottish people use their good “COMMON SENSE” and vote a positive “YES” in next year’s referendum, I would like to make the following proposal…… A one prize national raffle is enacted, with the winner being accorded a national honour. The day after the referendum Edinburgh Castle becomes the property of the people of the nation. The lucky person will be awarded the “PRIVILEGE” of lowering the emblem, which has for so long flown high over the Capital like something akin to a “MOCKINGBIRD” mimicking the symbolism of Imperial Grandeur He/she will then hand it over to the curator of the “MUSEUM of EDINBURGH” where it will be retained on display with the purpose of reminding future generations of a period of over 300 years in which the country was subjugated by another nation. The ceremony will then continue with the “PRIME MINISTER” of the day Alex Salmond,to the accompaniment of a mass pipe band., will hoist the flag of Scotland. In the country’s blackest hour on the 1st.May 1707 the carolliner composed a peal of bells based on the words “Why am I so sad on my wedding day”. This time and in coincidence with the occasion the bells will ring out an anthem the complete converse to the ritualistic theme of its predecessor of all these sorrowful years ago; and naturally the bells will ring out in every church across the land. I have quoted above in my little parable what I deem to be a very serious factor “The day after the referendum Edinburgh Castle becomes the property of the people of the nation”. I would hope that this principle will apply to each and every Castle and “PALACE” throughout the country. At some time in the near future a visit from members of the English Monarchy will be treated with same status and respect as their counterparts from other foreign nations. Saor Alba. LOL .
