Blu Bear Returns, stronger than ever By PAM MOODY Special to the Times Blu Bear — the dog that was found tied by the throat and left to die last August — had a triumphant return to visit his friends in Merced over the holidays! The young lady, Star Ramos, who found, untied, and carried Blu up a steep embankment to safety was there to see him along with her friend Amanda Hanley who, with her mother, Tammy, helped get Blu Bear to Last Hope Cat Kingdom animal rescue. Last Hope got the barely alive dog to Dr. Jim Byerlys clinic where his life was incredibly saved. Blu Bear was brought to town by his new mom, Heidi Moody, who had promised to bring him for a visit once he was fully recovered from his several surgeries to repair the severely damaged skin around his neck. Blu Bear is thriving in his new home with mom Heidi and dad Al and a small pack of rescue dogs. He has acclimated to his new life surprisingly quickly and is very loved. My only regret is that his torturers have not been found and prosecuted, said adoptive parent Heidi Moody. She added that while she appreciates the attention and good wishes for Blu, she wishes that more could be done to prevent other animals being hurt in this way.
