Blue Label Aaron’s Clean, Reborn Cop Bagger! Story by Dave Withrow Photos by Tyn Fin of Surrounding Image Issue: American Bagger 01-2013 Aaron Gross, of Mound, MN, grew up in Milwaukee, WI in the shadow of Harley-Davidson® and Miller Brewing Company. He fondly remembers learning how to ride at the age of 4, on a Honda 50. He swears he rode that trail bike more miles than most people drove their cars. Aaron’s early love of motorcycles didn’t translate into a passion for Harleys until later in life; mainly due to the higher cost of purchasing a Harley. His first Harley was a Fat Boy. That’s the bike that hooked him on customizing. Next up was an Electra Glide. Aaron instantly fell in love with the fairing and smooth suspension. All it took for Aaron’s wife to approve of the Bagger was one ride and the Fat Boy was no longer an option for her. Aaron used the Electra Glide as his Bagger Laboratory. He did some mild customizing and installed some bolt-on aftermarket parts, but something was missing. Aaron wanted to build a Bagger from the ground up, so the Electra Glide went up for sale and it was time to find a cheap donor. Aaron found a 2007 Police Road King that a motorcycle mechanic owned. The Bagger had some mild Street Glide upgrades and was perfect for Aaron. He spent the first winter stripping off stock parts, which he would later upgrade, and sold them on eBay to build up his war chest. He also spent that winter cutting out stories from American and Urban Bagger magazines, so he would have a game plan for his build. He had always admired his friend Lance Pasket’s bikes and he knew that Lance did all the work himself, so he enlisted Lance’s help for the build. Aaron’s Blue Label Bagger is powered by a 103” Twin Cam motor that was upgraded with a Power Commander, Vance & Hines air cleaner and Samson True Dual exhaust. A 21” SMT Silencer Contrast Cut wheel was installed up front with matching rotors. To enhance the contrast cut wheels, Aaron had the front end powder coated. The tall ape hanger bars are from Hill Country Custom Cycles and feature powder coated controls and Küryakyn ISO grips with spikes. A Harley batwing fairing was installed along with a Harley windshield. Vicious Cycle supplied the stretched gas tank covers. The stretched dash panel is from Klock Werks and the pop-up cap is from Bagger Nation. Lance stretched the stock saddlebags and custom stretched and tweaked the rear fender. Bagger Nation is responsible for the Thicky front fender. Lighting up the back end are Custom Dynamics’ 8” Mega Plasma Rods, Frenched Red Prismatic 3” lens with Skull Design for a taillight and their dual color Tag Boltz that hold the license plate in the Küryakyn license plate frame. Sensation Design Group installed the upgraded sound system which includes: custom saddlebag lids with two 6 x 9” Rockford Fosgate Punch 4-way speakers, an Alpine head unit, an Alpine 400 watt amp and two 6.5” Rockford Fosgate Punch three way speakers. The upgraded floorboards are from SMT. The skull horn cover is from Drag Specialties and has been powder coated black. The two-up seat is from LePera. Besides the fabrication and assembly, Lance also handled the paint for Blue Label. He describes the color as Kustom Shop’s Hot Rod Flatz Le Mans Blue Metallic. Next up for Aaron are some major upgrades to the motor, proving you are never quite finished. Tech.
