Blue Mountain Academy has long been known for its leadership training. A program that started many years ago under principal Spencer Hannah and created by Sergio Menente, and continued by Jon Larrabee and Barb Rutt, and now taught by principal Dave Morgan, students have left BMA prepared to step onto university campuses and make an immediate impact. Recently, one of Mr. Morgans students wrote to him with the following thought: Dear Morg, Today, I picked up my Strengths Finder book again and started paging through it. I went onto the site and looked at my top five strengths again. Initially, when I had taken the test in high school I had a reaction of ...what? These dont sound like me at all...I only agree with, like, two of them.. Looking back at them now, I feel a sense of affirmation in the career Ive chosen and the way I want to live my life. It makes a lot of sense now why Ive chosen to become a teacher and I hope that I can look at these strengths every so often and affirm why I wanted to become a teacher again. Empathy, Input, Developer, Positivity, and Connectedness are all very important parts of being a teacher. I may not always be the best teacher, but I hope that I can connect and understand my students to help them when they think theyll never achieve anything. I want to always be able to see the potential in even my most difficult students. I feel very emotional looking at these strengths after paying attention to my weaknesses for so long. I feel more excited about my future than apprehensive. So, I wanted to thank you a thousand times over for giving me the opportunity to take this test and making a difference for the better in my life and in my thinking. Two years later, these things are still very useful to me. I hope you can continue to use the Strength Finder for your staff and students that you teach. Its worth the money and can be valuable if people are willing to put aside their weaknesses for a moment in world where weakness is often our center. Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to understand and believe in myself. -Anonymous member of the class of 2012 Blue Mountain Academy is working to help students hear Gods calling for their lives, empowering and equipping them to make a difference in the world in which they live!
