Blue skies resting on changing leaves was the feast for my eyes - TopicsExpress

Blue skies resting on changing leaves was the feast for my eyes yesterday as I made the bee rounds. The musty scent of leaves changing combined with the apiaries sweet scent of honey stores drifting amidst the colonies filled my senses. An occasional ticking sound of a leaf drifting down, to crash into the ground, kept time for the unfelt wind as it rustled and whirled through the canopy of color above me. After removing the empty honey supers, left for the bees to clean, I retired to the deck at our cabin for a moment of coffee and contemplation of the season yet to come. It is always such a pleasure to watch fall progress, but also leaves a beekeeper alone in thought quite frequently going over the checklist of what needs to be done for the girls while they are still able to get out and fly. The months can seem to go by so fast anymore and I cherish each one of them with my bees.
