Bluebird Care are looking for full time and part time care assistants for their expanding home care company in York. We are especially interested in people who want to work evenings and weekends. We are looking for full time and part time carers. Bluebird Care provides care services to customers in their own home. We have over 185 offices in the UK and are currently recruiting for our team of care workers in the York area - covering Bishopthorpe to Strensall, Rufforth and Dunnington and everywhere in between. Where will I be working? You will be working in the customer’s home. Sometimes you will be working with a colleague and other times you will be working on your own, depending on the customer’s needs. We will try to keep you in one area and near to your home. As you will be travelling from house to house to visit our customers you will need your own car or moped. Please note applicants will be subject to a DBS (CRB) check. All applicants must be willing to complete induction training and shadowing. Bluebird Care are an equal opportunities employer. What will I be doing for the customers? You will help our customers remain independent in their own homes, something we at Bluebird Care are passionate about. Our customers are all very individual and their needs vary - they may be older with poor mobility, or younger with MS or perhaps needing support after hospitalization. As such, you will help our customers with: - Washing and dressing - Meal preparation - Going out in the car - Taking medication - Companionship What if I don’t have any experience? That’s okay but you need to be outgoing, warm and caring - we will teach you the rest and provide all our staff with full training and support via a combination of classroom based and online learning. The most important thing we are looking for is people who share our values and want to provide a high quality service to our customers. Bluebird Care are and equal opportunities employer After you have completed your training you will shadow one of our experienced carers so that you can see what needs to be done for your customers. The office is based in Clifton Moor and we are always on hand to support you assisted by our supervisor who works out in the field and is close at hand. What do I get paid? Pay is £7.50 per hour on weekdays and £8.00 per hour at the weekends, once you have completed your training. We pay for the time you spend with a customer. Between calls we pay a mileage / travel allowance of 25p per mile and we will provide you with your gloves, aprons and a uniform. Excellent prospects for promotion, particularly for experienced carers. We have a policy of promotion from within wherever possible. A comprehensive package of free training and the opportunity to study for funded Diplomas in Health and Social Care (formerly NVQs). What hours do I have to work? We are flexible. The busiest times are between 7am-2pm and 4pm-10pm. Some care workers want to work mornings and evenings, some just evenings etc. It is up to you. We do ask that all care workers work alternate weekends – care is needed by our customers 7 days a week. Our average call times are 45 minutes but some calls are significantly longer, our shortest call time is 30 minutes (we don’t do 15 minute calls). We also do sleeping and waking nights for some of our customers.
